Gaura ‘Passionate Blush’ – Airy Grace with a Flush of Pink Elegance

Gaura lindheimeri ‘Passionate Blush’ is a refined and romantic perennial that adds movement, softness, and long-lasting colour to garden borders, gravel gardens, and container displays. This compact variety is known for its delicate, star-shaped flowers in shades of soft blush-pink that flutter like butterflies atop fine, wiry stems. Blooming from late spring right through to autumn, ‘Passionate Blush’ brings a light, informal beauty to any planting scheme and pairs effortlessly with grasses, herbs, and other sun-loving perennials.

Why Grow Gaura ‘Passionate Blush’?

Extended Flowering Season
From late May into October, ‘Passionate Blush’ produces a continuous flush of pale pink blooms, offering colour when many other plants fade.

Graceful, Airy Habit
Its slender, arching stems and loose flower form add movement and a relaxed elegance, softening hard edges and providing contrast in structured plantings.

Compact Size
Smaller and neater than many other Gaura varieties, ‘Passionate Blush’ typically reaches 45–60cm in height – perfect for front-of-border placements or container use.

Drought Tolerant
Well-suited to sunny, free-draining sites, this plant thrives with minimal water once established – ideal for low-maintenance or Mediterranean-style gardens.

Pollinator Friendly
The lightly scented blooms are highly attractive to bees and butterflies, adding both charm and ecological value.

Where to Grow Gaura ‘Passionate Blush’

  • Sunny borders or informal cottage gardens

  • Gravel and prairie-style planting schemes

  • Mixed perennial beds or Mediterranean gardens

  • Patio containers or raised beds

  • Along pathways, where its delicate flowers can catch the breeze

How to Grow and Care for Gaura ‘Passionate Blush’

Soil – Prefers light, well-drained soils. Avoid heavy or waterlogged conditions.

Light – Needs full sun to thrive and flower abundantly.

Watering – Water regularly in the first season; once established, only occasional watering is needed.

Pruning – Lightly trim in early spring to encourage fresh growth. Deadhead through the season for prolonged flowering.

Feeding – A general-purpose fertiliser in spring will support healthy growth and flowering.

Winter Care – Hardy in most parts of the UK, though young plants may benefit from winter mulch in colder regions.

Gaura ‘Passionate Blush’ is the ideal choice for gardeners looking to introduce soft colour, gentle movement, and low-maintenance charm to their spaces. Whether used to brighten up a sun-drenched container or to add a romantic touch to a border, its delicate beauty and generous flowering season make it a standout perennial in any setting.

Buddy filled diesel skid steer with automotive gas engine oil. Used this to help.
We all know that guy who will buy a $65,000 machine and then only service it once a year with the cheapest oil on the shelf from Rural King or some other place with ultra cheap, home branded, questionably quality oil. Yep. That is my good buddy. So I go to the shop a couple weeks back and he is re-filling the skid steer engine with some ultra cheap, totally not to spec, gas engine oil. I question him and he states that it is perfect oil for the machine being 5W-30. I ask him if it meets the SAE ratings for the diesel, he repeats back that yep... it is 5W-30. So I go grab his New Holland book (C232 track skid steer) and look up the oil requirements, then I look at this junk oil, and I try to explain to him the SAE designations on the back of the bottle and the SAE requirements in the book. He looks at me like I have 3 heads and repeats that it is 5W-30, it is totally good. Someone.... kill me please! He has no clue what I am trying to explain. So I couldn't sleep knowing what he is doing, and I ran to Amazon to see if I can at least get zinc to add to the wrong oil and try to help the cam followers and rockers survive this next year. I found this. I ordered a few bottles and had them shipped to his shop, and I explained to him that these need to be dumped in to at least make an attempt in not prematurely wear the engine that likely is worth $20,000 or more! So the real question is, will he actually dump these into the machine, or will he toss them on a shelf never to be seen again? We may never know. But I bet next winter he will once again shop for the cheapest oil on earth to put in a machine that costs as much as some peoples home. He is who he is, you can never change that.

Works great
There's a ton of clips in this bag, and they fit the bumper I was installing easy enough. Can't complain. Nice that they included a tool as well, used it to help pull pieces when I was installing them incorrectly for a second. Word of advice to the manufacturer, maybe include instructions, it's not abundantly clear how to install these.
