Aglaonema 'Prosperity'

Aglaonema 'Prosperity' is a pink and green Chinese evergreen with a dense, upright crown and broad leaves held on coloured petioles. It grows from short basal stems, with new leaves held close together to form a full crown.

The leaves carry rose to coral-pink colouring, green margins and green flecking, with pattern intensity changing between individual blades. The petioles often carry a matching pink tone, adding colour below the leaf surface.

Aglaonema 'Prosperity' leaves and petioles

  • Compact Chinese evergreen with a dense, self-heading crown
  • Rose-pink to coral-pink leaves with green markings
  • Coloured petioles visible through the centre of the plant
  • Broad, glossy blades with varied pattern intensity
  • Needs temperatures above 18 °C, filtered light and a pot with drainage holes

Rose-pink leaves and basal shoots

Aglaonema 'Prosperity' belongs to the Araceae family and grows as a rhizomatous evergreen cultivar. Over time, a healthy plant can develop several shoots in one pot, making the crown denser.

Aglaonema species are native from north-eastern India through tropical Asia to Papua New Guinea. In pots, keep Aglaonema 'Prosperity' above 18 °C, away from cold draughts, in filtered light and in a substrate that stays lightly moist while draining well.

The name Aglaonema comes from Greek roots meaning bright or clear and thread, referring to the stamens.

Leaf pattern can shift with age and individual growth. New leaves may open softer in colour, then firm up as the blade matures.

Growing Aglaonema 'Prosperity' indoors

  • Light: Grow in bright indirect light. A consistent filtered-light position keeps the crown compact and helps new leaves reach normal size.
  • Water: Water when the top 2–3 cm feels dry. Use room-temperature water to reduce cold shock around the fleshy petiole bases.
  • Substrate: Use a loose mix with fine bark, coco fibre, perlite or pumice, and a little composted material for moisture retention.
  • Drainage: Keep the pot free-draining. Coloured Aglaonema cultivars with dense crowns are sensitive to stagnant moisture at the base.
  • Temperature: Keep above 18 °C. The low to mid 20s °C range helps new leaves emerge without long pauses.
  • Humidity: Moderate humidity limits dry edging on new leaves. In dry air, use grouping or a humidifier and keep watering guided by actual substrate moisture.
  • Feeding: Feed every 4–6 weeks during active growth at low strength. Diluted fertiliser causes fewer brown tips than strong doses.
  • Repotting: Repot when roots have filled the container or the plant dries unusually fast. Step up gradually to reduce the risk of wet substrate around the roots.
  • Pruning: Cut ageing leaves near the base. Removing old petioles cleanly keeps the crowded centre ventilated.
  • Propagation: Divide mature multi-shoot plants and keep each division lightly moist until the roots grip the mix and new leaves start forming.

Crown softness, margins and pests

  • Brown margins on pink leaves: Check for dry heat, strong fertiliser, direct sun or repeated drying between waterings.
  • Soft growth at the crown: Inspect the root ball and basal stems. Wet, compact substrate can soften roots and basal stems.
  • Patchy yellowing after repotting: Review pot size, planting depth and watering frequency while new roots establish.
  • Slow new leaves: Check temperature first, then light. Cool rooms can pause growth even when watering is correct.
  • Speckled or scarred young leaves: Inspect fresh growth and petiole bases for mites, thrips or mealybugs.

Toxicity and sap contact

In Aglaonema 'Prosperity', the leaves and stems contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. Keep the plant away from pets and children that may ingest it; mouth and throat irritation can follow if plant tissue is eaten, and fresh sap may irritate sensitive skin.

In warm filtered light, the crown stays compact, with rose-pink leaves held close together.

Great toy for a smaller dog
Color: Checkers - Dinos Bruto (Purple), Size: Mini
This is a small, firm, sturdy toy designed for chewing. It isn't a soft toy and it does not have a squeaker. My dog is only 8 lbs, and this is a perfect size for her. I discovered these smaller toys through my groomer. Other manufacturers make this size, as well. The "hard chew" part indicates that this toy will not be chewed to death easily. The oldest one that we have is still in good condition. It's a baby duck (also available on Amazon) and it's over a year old. The dinosaur is colorful, easy to throw, and a really cute. Every night, my dog gives these small toys a bath, cleaning them up by licking each one before going to sleep. It's as if they are her babies. Since she never had a liter, my vet said that they are about the size that her babies would have been, so she may see them as her babies. She treats them well. Every now and then they go" swimming" in the washing machine and come out looking bright and new again.

Updated, still going !! didn't last two minutes.
Color: Checkers - Elephant (Gray), Size: Large, Color: Checkers - Elephant (Gray), Size: Large
I hated giving this a 1 star, because it was so cute when I unpacked it today. I just gave it to my dog and in less than two minutes he has a hole ripped in it.! he loves it so I don't wanna take it away from him, but I'm sure it's going to be gone in another few minutes. Why can't someone make a stuffed animal for a dog that lasts like they say so on their listing? I really should take it away from him and send it back, but I don't have the heart. I had to come back and give this a better review. it deserves at least four stars because even though he ripped holes in it, this one has lasted way longer than any other toy. He's actually still playing with it, and it still has some crinkle left to it so he didn't destroy the whole thing as quickly as he did other stuffed animals. I will certainly buy another one because at least it lasted a week so far!

Looks Nice But Destroyed by my Lab
Color: Checkers - Elephant (Gray), Size: Large, Color: Checkers - Elephant (Gray), Size: Large
A really cute little elephant. My lab loved it and carried it around for a week. Then the elephant began losing body parts. Both legs are gone now plus the big squeaker. Lab still likes the elephant and carries it around. Its loosing stuffing and the real question is what body part is next. Its nice but not tough.

Still in one piece and played with!
Color: Checkers - Dinos Bruto (Purple), Size: Mini
Very durable for my little King Charles Chewer. She's had it for a while now and all though the chewing phase has calmed down, she still can be somewhat rough with the toys. The little dino is standing firm. It was a battle she figured she couldn't win with Dino. Now he's a fetch/ tug o war toy that still gets a few nibbles.
