These flowers are often used in decorative arrangements, but they are also extremely edible. Growing to a maximum of about 15 feet high, this plant likes living in sun to full shade where its red, gold, pink, orange, and yellow blossoms are on full display in the middle of the Summer. The flower buds are used to make a fish stew, and the white part of the trunk is used to make a chilli sauce. The blossoms attract a wide variety of birds, bees, and butterflies.
