The Philodendron Campii is a rare and sought-after variety, native to the tropical forests of South America, where it climbs trunks in humid understories. Its elongated leaves with wavy edges give it a graphic and sophisticated texture that few Philodendrons match. Discover it among our selection of collector plants.

Its elongated leaves with wavy edges give it a graphic and sophisticated texture that few Philodendrons match — a common question when choosing between Philodendron and Monstera for a tropical interior.

Which Philodendron variety to choose?

The Philodendron genus offers an immense diversity of shapes, colors, and textures — all varieties in the catalog are available in the Philodendron collection. Here’s how the Philodendron Campii stands out from the rest:

  • Philodendron Campii (this plant) — elongated leaves with wavy edges, unique graphic texture, climbing habit, rare collector’s variety.
  • Philodendron Pedatum — deeply cut leaves, XXL climbing habit, spectacular and airy silhouette.
  • Philodendron Birkin — dark green leaves striped with white, compact and graphic habit.
  • Philodendron Melanochrysum — dark green velvety leaves with light veins, climbing habit, large size.
  • Philodendron Billietiae — elongated leaves with orange petioles, climbing habit, rare variety.
  • Philodendron Micans — velvety bronze-green leaves, trailing or climbing habit, very easy to care for.
  • Philodendron Scandens — bright green heart-shaped leaves, trailing or climbing habit, ideal for beginners.

Exposure & placement

Philodendron Campii enjoys bright indirect light. It tolerates partial shade but its wavy foliage develops better with good brightness — in too dark a spot, the leaves lose definition and growth slows significantly. The balance of light and humidity is key to maintaining dense, well-formed foliage.

  • Light: bright indirect light — avoid direct sun that burns the leaves.
  • Location: desk, shelf, living room — near a window without direct exposure.
  • Temperature: 18–27 °C, without sudden changes or drafts.
  • Substrate: light, rich, and well-drained — universal potting soil with perlite.

Philodendron Campii is a climbing plant — set up a stake or support to encourage the development of larger, more wavy leaves over time.

Watering & care

Philodendron Campii likes a slightly moist but never soggy substrate. Let the top 3 to 5 centimeters dry out between waterings — overwatering is the main cause of leaf yellowing in Philodendrons.

  • Frequency: once a week in spring and summer, every 2 weeks in winter.
  • Humidity: ideally 60–70% — mist occasionally or group with other plants.
  • Fertilizer: once a month in spring and summer, diluted liquid fertilizer for green plants.
  • Cleaning: gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to preserve their shine.

Leaves yellowing at the base almost always indicate overwatering — let the soil dry out more between waterings and check that the pot drains well.

Decor ideas & plant pairings

The wavy, graphic texture of the Philodendron Campii makes it an effective accent plant — it effortlessly draws the eye in a plant arrangement or alone on a shelf.

  • On a desk or shelf, place it in the Gabriel ochre ceramic Ø14 cm — the warmth of the matte ochre highlights the green tones of the wavy foliage and grounds the arrangement in a natural, cozy style.
  • For a tropical arrangement, pair it with a trailing Philodendron Micans — the velvety bronze of the Micans contrasts with the smooth wavy texture of the Campii, two opposite silhouettes in the same plant family.
  • In a bright living room, place it near a Monstera deliciosa — the large perforated leaves of the Monstera and the fine wavy foliage of the Campii create a very effective tropical texture contrast.
  • Alone on a low piece of furniture, place it in the Gabriel Bordeaux ceramic pot Ø14 cm — the deep Bordeaux highlights the intense green of the foliage and gives the Campii the accent plant status it deserves.

Verdeia tips

  • Install a stake now: the Campii is a climber — the earlier you install support, the more the leaves develop in size and waviness as the plant climbs.
  • Wipe leaves once a month: dust clogs stomata and dulls the shine of the wavy foliage — a damp cloth is enough to maintain their brightness and improve photosynthesis.
  • Space out watering in winter: the Philodendron enters dormancy between October and February — reduce watering to once every 2 weeks and stop fertilizing until spring.

zelda‘s “indoor” ⚽️ ball!
Color: Squeaky Green, Size: Medium Size 2 (6")
zelda loves her soccer ball - because of the fabric “tabs”, and the way she treats her toys, we keep it inside. she loves to place all of her toys and bones on our bed, after they’ve been cleaned. this ball is perfect and soft enough to throw it down our steps, where she will run down, retrieve it, and bring it back to the bed. it arrives deflated and comes with the pump and two needles - the pump is not the sturdiest and felt like it was not inflating, but after only having to reflate it once with a bit of air since receiving it ~5-6 months ago, it still holds up!

Small for a medium
Color: Red-Blue, Size: Medium Size 2 (6"), Color: Red-Blue, Size: Medium Size 2 (6")
I got medium.. and it does not look like a medium ball.. it’s rather small. It’s pretty sturdy and my dogs went crazy for it but it’s definitely not the size I thought it was going to be 😂 my dogs chewed one strap within 5 minutes of having it but they’re dogs and that’s what they do lol. I bought this to be an outside ball for them! It’s pretty light but that’s probably because it’s small. Not soft? But feels like a soccer ball. It also had no smell coming out of the box. Also comes with a pump and an extra thing to put in the ball to pump in case you lose one. I like these balls, I expect them to be chewed up because that’s what I bought them for! Fun for my dogs and they are! But the size… it is not medium and that’s the only reason for 3 stars 😂😂😂 Other then that I recommend, your dog will definitely love this! Inside or outside playing! Alone or with another dog!

Great toy for a GSD
Color: Blue Gray, Size: Extra Large Size 5 (9")
My GSD loves to grab the flaps and shake her head with the ball bouncing of the side of her head. This is her favorite toy. I thought she would puncture it but it has held up great since she likes to grab the flaps rather than biting the ball.

Great
Size: Medium, Number of Items: 1
I need something that was soft for my three year old and this ball is super great, it not only is the right size but it also fits in his mouth just right. Although he is a super aggressive chewer, the ball toy hasn't been totally destroyed yet and it is easy on his gums. The ball is so durable that got two of these toys just for fun.

The best!
UPDATE: 08/05/2025 - This is still one of my dog's 2 fav training/play toys. A couple of notes: 1. This is not a chew toy. If your pup is chewing up the rope, that's on you. That being said, you can get 100' of the poly cord rope at Home Depot for like $4.98. You can make nearly 100 ropes out of 100'. How hard is it to replace the rope????? 2. My pup is a now 15 month old Malinois. His original balls, purchase in September 2024 are still in everyday, multiple times per day, play. I did get careless and leave one where he got it and chew the rope. Easily replaced. Nothing to fret over. Yes, that was on me! 3.The foam ball is virtually indestructible! Replace the rope! 4. I noticed the price for the yellow large went from $12 each to $24. THIS will cause me to go elsewhere if they doubled in price. I LOVE these balls but not that much. I noticed they have a new yellow ball that has a strap vs. a rope. I might try that if I need one, but I have 6 of these balls, 2 never used yet, 2 that are virtually new looking, and 2 that have been in play since september 2024. I don't think I'll be buying more any time soon, but if I do need more, I hope they haven't gone up to $24 each. One of my top, go-to training tools. Quality is great other than the shrink wrap around the string joint. It's junk but not essential. Great tug and fetch toy. Essential to teaching a good "out" command (2 are recommended for this).
