The Fiddle Leaf Fig, one of the most common species, prefers strong indirect light, but most of the varieties you’ll find would prefer at least some direct sun, and many thrive in as much as full exposure in a southern window. Ficuses have a reputation for dropping leaves after moving locations or changes to their routine, but this is also quite variable depending on the species. Most prefer a thorough watering followed by an almost thorough drying out.
