Sour Runtz Autoflower seeds exemplify the pinnacle of cannabis cultivation, combining ease of growth with high-quality, resin-covered buds. Here’s what you need to know about the Sour Runtz Auto strain.

The History of Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds

The Sour Runtz Autoflower seeds have a fascinating history that reflects the innovative spirit of cannabis cultivation. It is the progeny of a meticulously crafted crossbreed between Sour Candy and Runtz, two strains renowned for their unique and rich profiles. This combination has been further enhanced with Ruderalis genetics, which imparts the autoflowering trait, allowing the plant to flower automatically without needing specific light cycles.

Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds’ Genetic Journey

The Sour Runtz Autoflower is a captivating hybrid that has embarked on a remarkable genetic journey.

Sour Candy

We know our auto Sour Runtz strain is a little different from the original feminized version but we found that Candy was the better partner for Runtz when crossing in the autoflower genes. Sour Candy beautiful cross between the pungent Sour Diesel and the sweet Bubble Gum, resulting in an 80/20 Sativa-dominant blend. The buds of Sour Candy are known for their bright forest green color, adorned with thin pistils and a super frosty layer of large trichomes, making them a visual plant. Regarding cultivation, Sour Candy is moderately easy to grow, requiring some patience due to its long flowering time of 11 to 12 weeks. However, growers are rewarded with large yields of high-quality buds.

Runtz

The Runtz strain is a fascinating and exquisite hybrid that has taken the cannabis industry by storm with its perfect balance of Indica and Sativa genetics. This 50/50 hybrid strain is the offspring of two highly celebrated cannabis, Zkittlez and Gelato. Runtz’s appearance is notably unique, with light, wispy growth and trichomes that create an almost alien allure. Its buds are drenched in trichomes and exhibit a kaleidoscope of green hues accented by streaks of purple and orange pistils.

How to Germinate Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds

Germinating Sour Runtz Auto cannabis seeds using the paper towel method is a widely popular technique due to its simplicity and effectiveness. This method uses paper towels to provide an ideal environment for the seeds to sprout before they are transferred to soil or another growth medium. The key benefits of this technique are its ability to maintain consistent moisture levels and its gentle handling of delicate sprouts, which can be crucial for the success of germination. Here’s a detailed step-by-step germination guide to get you started:

  1. Gather supplies: You’ll need Sour Runtz Autoflower seeds, paper towels, two clean plates, and distilled water.
  2. Moisten paper towels: Wet two paper towels with distilled water and wring out excess moisture.
  3. Place seeds: Lay one paper towel on a plate and place the Sour Runtz Auto seeds on top, ensuring they are spaced out evenly.
  4. Cover the seeds: Place the second moist paper towel over the seeds, covering them completely.
  5. Create a dome: Use the second plate to cover the setup, creating a dome-like environment to retain moisture and warmth.
  6. Store in a warm area: Keep the plate in a warm, dark place, like a closet, cupboard, or drawer, where the temperature is around 70-85°F (21-29°C).
  7. Check daily: Open the setup daily to ensure the paper towels remain moist and to check for sprouting.
  8. Wait for taproots: In 2-7 days, look for the emergence of small white taproots from the seeds.
  9. Transplant carefully: Once the taproots are about a quarter-inch long, gently transplant the seedlings to your chosen growing medium.

Why do Growers Choose Autos?

Autoflowering cannabis strains have revolutionized home cultivation with their appealing characteristics, offering a convenient and efficient way to produce cannabis.

Easy to Grow

Autoflowering cannabis plants, commonly known as “autos,” are prized for their simplicity in cultivation. They are genetically designed to be less labor-intensive, making them perfect choices for novice and experienced growers. Unlike traditional cannabis strains, autos are more resilient to temperature fluctuations and common mistakes in watering and feeding. This hardiness stems from their rudimentary genetics, which often include ruderalis heritage, a species known for its toughness.

Autos aren’t dependent on light cycles

One of the most significant benefits of autoflowering plants is their independence from light cycles. Traditional cannabis strains require specific periods of light and darkness to transition from the vegetative stage to flowering. However, autos are not bound by this requirement. They will begin to flower based on age rather than changes in the light cycle. This trait allows growers to maintain a simple lighting schedule throughout the entire growth cycle, leading to energy savings and reduced complexity in growth operations.

Autoflowers aren’t seasonal

Autoflowers are not seasonal plants, which means they can be grown at any time of the year as long as the conditions are suitable. Outdoor growers also benefit, as they are not restricted to the traditional growing seasons and can potentially harvest multiple times a year if the climate allows.

Multiple harvests per grow season

The rapid growth cycle of autoflowering plants enables multiple harvests within a single growing season. Autos typically take about 8-10 weeks from seed to harvest, significantly shorter than the 4-5 months required for regular strains. This quick turnaround time allows for several successive plantings and harvests in a year, maximizing the use of space and resources for continuous production.

Growing Sour Runtz Auto Seeds

Should I Grow Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds Indoors or Outdoors?

Sour Runtz Autoflower seeds can thrive in both indoor and outdoor environments, making them versatile for various growing setups. Despite their relatively short height, which usually ranges between 60 to 100 centimeters, the Sour Runtz Autoflowering cannabis seeds boast a robust and sturdy structure.

Growing Sour Runtz Autoflower Indoors

Due to their compact size, Sour Runtz Autoflower weed seeds can be grown in smaller indoor spaces, allowing for efficient use of the available area.

Benefits

The following benefits highlight why Sour Runtz Autoflower is a popular choice for indoor growers looking for a straightforward and rewarding cultivation experience:

  • Controlled environment: Indoor growing allows complete control over the growing conditions, including temperature, humidity, and light, leading to healthier plants and potentially higher-quality yields.
  • Multiple harvests: With a shorter life cycle, Sour Runtz Autoflower allows for multiple harvests in a year, maximizing the potential return from the indoor grow space.
  • Resilience: These Auto plants are known for their resilience against pests and diseases, which is especially beneficial in the controlled environment of indoor cultivation.
  • No light cycle changes needed: These autoflowers don't need changes in the light cycle to flower, simplifying the cultivating process and reducing the risk of human error.

Any drawbacks of growing Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds indoors?

Higher electric bills are a common concern, as indoor growing necessitates artificial lighting systems, which can consume a considerable amount of electricity. The rapid growth cycle of these autoflowers limits the time available for plant training techniques, which are often used to enhance yield and grow space efficiency. In addition, the initial setup costs for indoor growing can be substantial, with investments needed for lighting, ventilation, grow tents, and other essential equipment.

Growing Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds Outdoors

The ideal time to plant Sour Runtz Autoflower seeds outdoors is during the regular planting season, typically from April to late July. Conversely, you can generally expect to harvest your crops by the end of September or October.

Pros

The natural sunlight can significantly enhance plant growth, leading to larger yields and more robust buds. It’s also a cost-effective option, as growers can save on the expenses of indoor growing setups, such as lighting and climate control systems. Moreover, the relatively small stature of Sour Runtz autoflower plants makes them ideal for stealthy cultivation practices like guerrilla growing, allowing them to blend seamlessly into the environment and remain undetected.

Cons

Growing Sour Runtz Auto plants outdoors can expose them to more environmental risks, including inclement weather, wildlife, theft, pests and diseases, compared to the more controlled conditions of indoor cultivation. Additionally, when growing outdoors, you have a reduced ability to manage the quality and yield of your crop.

The Best Grow Medium for Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds

Sour Runtz Autoflower seeds thrive best in well-drained soil. A mix of about 20% perlite or coco coir ensures proper aeration, which is crucial for the plant’s metabolic growth process. The more oxygenated the substrate, the faster and healthier the plant grows. Using soil with slow-release nutrients is also recommended to minimize the risk of nutrient burn or deficiency.

The Best Climate for Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds

These Auto seeds prefer a warm, Mediterranean-like climate with plenty of direct sunlight and temperatures ranging from 68–82°F (20–28°C) during the day and 59–68°F (15–20°C) at night.

Problems to Look Out For When Growing Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds

While Sour Runtz Autoflowering seeds are generally robust, growers should watch out for high temperatures, which can cause poor germination and stunted growth. Additionally, ensuring the seedlings receive long hours of strong, direct sunlight is crucial, as insufficient light can lead to weak plants.

How Difficult is it to Grow Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds?

Growing Sour Runtz Autoflower seeds is considered easy, making them suitable for all growers. They are also medium mold-resistant and can adapt to different growing conditions.

Are Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds Suitable for Beginners?

Sour Runtz Autoflowering seeds are known for their ease of growth and resilience, which make them a forgiving option for those new to marijuana cultivation.

How Much Do Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds Yield?

With a flowering period of 8-10 weeks, Sour Runtz Auto growers can anticipate a bountiful harvest of 450-550 grams per m2 indoors or 70-100 grams per plant outdoors.

How to Get Better Yields from Your Sour Runtz Autoflower Seeds

Enhancing Sour Runtz Auto seeds yield can be achieved through strategic cultivation techniques like topping, low-stress training (LST), and the Screen of Green (ScrOG) method. These training methods are designed to optimize plant structure for maximum yield.

The Best Grow Techniques for Sour Runtz Autoflower

Here are three common autoflowering training techniques you can use:

SCROG

The SCROG, or Screen of Green, technique is a highly effective method used in cannabis cultivation to maximize yields and control plant size. It involves placing a horizontal screen or net above the plants and strategically weaving and tucking the branches through the openings. This creates an even canopy that allows optimal light exposure and airflow to all plant parts, especially the bud sites.

Topping

Topping autoflowering cannabis plants involves cutting off the top of the main stem, which can result in the plant growing two new branches at the severed node. If done correctly and at the right time, topping can lead to a higher yield by increasing the number of bud sites. If you decide to top Sour Runtz Auto, it's crucial to do so early in the plant's life cycle, typically around the time it has developed 3-4 nodes. This gives the cannabis plant enough time to recover and grow additional branches before flowering.

Low-stress training

This gentle method enhances both the yield and the evenness of the canopy. Employing LST on Sour Runtz Autoflower seeds involves carefully bending and fastening the branches to encourage growth across a horizontal plane, thus preventing the plants from growing too tall. By evenly distributing the branches, every bud location gains adequate exposure to light and air circulation, creating a flatter canopy. This is particularly beneficial for indoor producers with height restrictions, as it optimizes the available space and light resources.

What Does a Sour Runtz Autoflower Plant Look Like?

The Sour Runtz Auto plant is a stunning display of horticultural beauty, often celebrated for its vibrant and alluring appearance. The foliage of the Sour Runtz is a tapestry of greens, with leaves ranging from a deep emerald to a light lime hue. The buds are nothing short of spectacular, characterized by their dense and chunky formation that seems to glisten with a frosty layer of trichomes. These resinous nugs are a mosaic of color, adorned with orange pistils that twist and turn like fiery tendrils amidst the crystalline blanket.

Not as good as I expected
When it first came, the box fell apart as I was taking it out, and a lot of some kind of dirt or sand kept falling out all over my table and floor. I had the take the entire thing apart and thoroughly wash it. After drying age reassembling it, I tried it on my portafilter that came with my Breville Barista Express, but, somehow, it doesn't always make the tamping level. You would think with the ridge that rests on the side of the portafilter that it would force it to remain level, but, somehow, it doesn't, at least not consistently. It also has varying lengths (heights, or depths), and a single spring tension, so you may still over tamping or under-tamp. I was expecting it would have a censor that would just detect once it reached 30 lbs of force and cut off after that, similar to a torque screwdriver, but that's not what this is. I'll still give it 3 stars because, despite the problems mentioned above, it at least produces some amount of consistency, even if that isn't measurable; but, I can't give it 5 stars because of those issues mentioned above.

This is the one.
Size: 58.3mm, Color: Black
As an el Supremo Coffee Geek, I've wasted money on lots of different tampers. Save your money and buy this one or it's equivalent. This thing is heavy duty, solid, well-made, self-leveling, tamps at 30 pounds and is fool-proof even for fools. Also, it's a palm tamper meaning more fun and more satisfying to use as you prep the puck for your morning buzz. Buy it. You will thank me.

Super easy to use and takes the guess-work out of getting even pressure on the grounds
Size: 58.3mm, Color: Black, Size: 58.3mm, Color: Black
I have been using a hand tamper for many years and have a good idea of the pressure I am applying to the grounds in the portafilter. I honestly considered spring tampers to be a bit silly. But this tamper really does take the guess-work out of pressing the coffee grounds. The shroud helps guide the press so that pressure is applied even and flat across the surface. With the manual tamper, there will be some play when pressing, or some unevenness in pressure. This is especially true when cranking out many espressos during a breakfast party with friends. Having the spring tamper makes quick work of turning out a lot of coffees with consistency. There are no instructions for taking this tamper apart to clean inside, and you may not really need to do that very often. After each use, just pull back the shroud (the black piece that moves up and down) and wipe off the tamper (the shiny steel part). This will help prevent grounds from working their way inside. If you do want to take it apart, it’s easy. Pull back the shroud and unscrew the tamper. It will come apart into three pieces. Wipe the pieces off and reassemble. Super quick and easy. This tamper is very heavy. My scale shows 656 g (about a pound and a half). It fits the portafilter exactly, with no slop. Just place on top of grounds and press!. Don’t even worry about pressure, just push down all the way. Overall I had fun using this tamper versus my manual one. And since I make myself a cappuccino very early in the morning, I don’t have to be very awake to get a good pack on the grounds and get my coffee fast!

Quality and Function
Looks like a silly little thing, I am not a coffee enthusiast. But it does exactly what it is supposed to do and with high quality. The device (a stretch to call it that) is made of sturdy materials including the needles. They give you two different thicknesses of needles, one for expressi (0.3) and one set for coffee grinds (0.4). Each comes wth some spares. The stand is well designed and keeps grinds from spreading all over. It is very elegant design. I use this with a dosing funnel on my portafilter. Not the cheapest one could buy but well worth the money.
