Why Grow Spearmint?

🍃 Sweeter, More Versatile Flavor: Less menthol than peppermint makes spearmint the go-to choice for cooking, from mint jellies and sauces to salads and savory dishes.

🍵 Perfect for Teas & Drinks: A classic herbal tea herb, and a staple in mojitos, lemonades, and other fresh summer drinks.

🌱 Effortless to Grow: Like all mints, spearmint is vigorous and forgiving—a great herb for beginners.

Growing Information

🌱 Plant Type: Perennial herb

🌱 Plant Height: 12–24 inches

🌱 Hardiness Zones: 3–11

🌱 When to Plant: Spring, after last frost

🌱 When to Harvest: Once established, harvest as needed throughout the growing season; best before flowering for peak flavor

Cultivation Tips

  • Soil: Moist, well-draining soil with moderate fertility. Spearmint is adaptable and not particularly fussy.
  • Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade. It handles shade better than many herbs, making it a good option for spots that don't get full sun all day.
  • Watering: Keep soil consistently moist in garden beds. In containers, let the surface dry out slightly between waterings to avoid waterlogging.
  • Harvesting: Snip stems just above a leaf node to encourage full, bushy growth. Harvest regularly to keep the plant productive and delay flowering—once it flowers, the flavor can become slightly bitter.
  • Containment: Spearmint spreads by underground runners and will take over a bed if left unchecked. Containers are a great option, or use a root barrier when planting in the ground.

Our spearmint is greenhouse-grown and arrives as an established plug in a 3" pot, ready to go straight into your garden or container.

Non-GMO Commitment: At The Farm on Central, all our plants are guaranteed non-GMO and not genetically modified in any way, upholding natural breeding methods and promoting sustainable gardening and farming practices.

Great Matcha for Price! 🍵
Size: 1.4 Ounce (Pack of 1), Size: 1.4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I was hesitant at first because the price seemed too good to be true, but this turned out to be amazing for the cost! It’s not the brightest “ceremonial first harvest” matcha I’ve tried, but it’s also not dull or too yellow tinted. The taste and aroma are both nice, and it works perfectly in lattes or on its own. It whisks up silky smooth. You get a great amount for the price too, some brands charge $20+ for a similar amount and quality. Overall, an amazing affordable find for matcha lovers!

Deceptive advertising - NOT 100 servings
Size: 1.4 Ounce (Pack of 1), Size: 1.4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
The bag shows 100 servings per container, which is one of the reasons I bought it, but it’s more like 30 servings. The bag shows serving size 1 scoop approximately 1g but the directions says “sift 1.5 tsp” but the scoop included in the bag is 1/2 tsp (it would take 3 scoops to equal 1.5 tsp). The taste is a little off, not as smooth as other brands I’ve tried.
