With its beautiful shape and thick, waxy leaves, the ZZ plant is a timeless fan favorite houseplant -- and for good reason! Native to dry grasslands and forests of East Africa, the ZZ plant is famous for its ability to thrive on neglect, which makes it a great beginner-friendly houseplant, and a great gift for the traveller or busy person in your life.
This plantita is super tolerant of a wide range of conditions. It can live in a dark low-light corner, a bright & sunny indoor window, and anywhere in between. A good rule of thumb to keep in mind for this plant is that the lower amount of light it's receiving, the less you should water it. These plants are naturally quite slow-growing, so if you want it to grow faster, place it in brighter light!
You can water the ZZ plant as little as once a month -- though for a 4" or 6" plant we recommend watering once every 2 weeks. Make sure the soil dries out 75% or more in between waterings.

If you’re worried about getting your water schedule right, we recommend using a Moisture Meter! These handy tools will help you gauge if your plant needs water or not, without the mess of sticking your hands in the soil to check.
If a plant is out of stock, we apologize – we’re very grateful for our community’s support, and can sell out of certain plants quite quickly! We get new plants about once a week and try to source all our community’s favs as fast as we can.
If you’re local to the LA area, we recommend coming into the shop when you can, especially if you’re looking for a new plant! We have much more plants in our store than we display online, as well as a full backyard greenhouse that houses our discounted rehab plants that need a bit more TLC from a new home.
