Very early in his houseplant journey, Darryl Cheng realized the term ‘bright indirect light’ is often used as a catch-all phrase that doesn't provide any concrete way of assessing the light your plant is receiving.
Here is the LTH Meter – the first meter to measure light, temperature, and humidity.
Key Features:
1 – Convex Mirror
Correlate your visual surroundings with the light measurements
2 – Light Sensor
Measures light in FC (foot-candles) or lux
3 – Temperature/Humidity Sensors
Measures temperature in °C or °F and humidity in %

Shows measurements for light, temperature and humidity in real-time (refreshed every 0.5 seconds)

How to measure natural light:
- Sensor placement: top of the plant
- Sensor orientation: should be pointed straight up but if you find that you have to turn the sensor to get a higher reading, it just means over time, the plant will tilt towards that direction
- WHEN to measure: the purpose of the light meter is to measure the strength of INDIRECT light so you want to get a sense of the average strength of this light while the sun is NOT in view (and also not too close to sun rise or sun set – when the overall sky is darker)
- DIRECT SUN: also take note of the total duration the sun shines directly on the plant
Analysis for natural light:
- If the average indirect light is above “Good for Growth”, then expect good growth
- If the average indirect light is at or below “Minimum for Maintenance”, then don’t expect strong growth
- If the duration of direct sun is above the “Tolerance of Direct Sun”, then block it with a white sheer curtain
- If the duration of direct sun is at or below the “Tolerance of Direct Sun”, then there’s no need to block the plant (just be sure to keep up with watering)
For white LED grow lights:
- For good growth: set the distance of the grow light such that the reading at the top of the plant is at or above “Good for Growth” and keep the light on for 12-16 hours a day
- For maintaining over winter: set the distance of the grow light to get a reading around the “Minimum for Maintenance” and keep the light on for 8-12 hours a day

Elegant Hammered Gold Plastic Forks That Don't Feel Cheap

These forks were a fun addition to our holiday table. They’re a bright, shiny gold with a hammered finish and honestly look much more expensive than they are. At a glance, they really do resemble real gold flatware.
They’re also surprisingly solid. These are not flimsy, fast-food-style plastic utensils. The forks feel sturdy in your hand and can easily handle everything from salad to steak—no bending tines or snapping. Once they’re on the table, you wouldn’t know they’re plastic until you pick them up. They only downside to them is that the design to have them come to a point at the end of the handle made it slightly uncomfortable in my hand while using it.
They’re an excellent option for weddings, parties, or any event where you want an elegant table setting without using real metal flatware. They also hand-wash well and can be reused multiple times, which makes them a nice choice even for at-home entertaining when you want something that looks special without the worry.

Surprisingly sturdy at 3¢ each, better than expected for a large 1,000-count bulk spoon box 🥄📦
📝 Summary
For about 3 cents per spoon, I expected these to be extremely flimsy. They are still disposable plastic spoons, but they are stronger than I expected and a very solid value for a 1,000-count box.
✅ Pros
• Very low cost per spoon.
• Stiffer than many bargain disposable spoons.
• Reinforced shape helps the handle resist bending.
• Useful for parties, lunches, quick meals, and everyday convenience.
• Serious value for the money if you use disposable utensils often.
⚠️ Cons
• Not as sturdy as metal utensils or thick premium plastic spoons.
• Still disposable, so the waste tradeoff is worth thinking about.
• Hard frozen foods may still need a little care.
🥄 Review
At this price per spoon, I expected these to feel like the cheapest, flimsiest spoons possible. They actually surprised me.
The design helps a lot. The handle has a shaped, reinforced feel, and the spoon does not bend as easily as many low-cost disposable spoons I have used. It is not metal-spoon sturdy, and it is not the same as a thick premium plastic spoon, but it is definitely better than I expected for the price.
For normal meals, snacks, lunches, parties, and quick cleanups, these are completely practical. They could even handle softer ice cream with a little effort, which is more than I can say for some thin disposable spoons that fold almost immediately.
The main selling point is the value. A 1,000-count box at this price makes sense if you want disposable spoons around the house or for gatherings. There is still the environmental side to consider, but from a convenience and cost standpoint, these are a strong buy.
💡 Quick tips
• Good for parties, lunch bags, office kitchens, crafts, and pet-food scooping.
• Keep some in a car, picnic bin, pantry, or emergency kit.
• For hard ice cream, let it soften slightly first.
🧑🍳 My take
I bought these expecting very basic spoons, but they are better than that. They are not fancy, but they are sturdy enough, useful, and priced very well for how many you get. I would buy them again.
