Growing Tips

Echinacea seeds require cold stratification prior to germination. This can be done one of two ways (depending on your planting method).

When Planting Outdoors, plant the echinacea seeds in the fall to allow the seeds to overwinter. Seeds will germinate when soil temperatures reach around 65-70°F. Germination should occur within a couple of weeks but could take up to 4 weeks to fully sprout.

When Planting Indoors, soak the seeds in water overnight then place the damp seeds in a sealed container in the refrigerator for 8 to 10 weeks. Plant in your seed trays and warm the soil to 65°. Seeds should germinate within 10 to 14 days.

These plants are drought-tolerant and do not like soggy feet, so make sure to only water when the surface of the soil is dry to the touch. They do best in a sandy, well-draining soil.

Medicinal Uses

Echinacea has been used throughout history as an immune-stimulating herb. Medicinally, the leaves, root, and flowers can be used.

People have used Echinacea as a natural painkiller for thousands of years. It is also thought to alleviate stomach aches, headaches, sore throats, prevent the common cold, flu, and many respiratory ailments. In addition, echinacea may help to fight rheumatoid arthritis, ulcers, Crohn’s disease, malaria, herpes, typhoid, vaginal yeast, and many other ailments.

When used as a tea, echinacea is believed to reduce anxiety and stress. It may also help to control blood sugar levels and is used in many diabetic diets.

The list of health benefits from the echinacea plant is ongoing, we recommend harvesting and storing the entire plant for future uses as the need arises.

Harvesting Crops

Echinacea flowers and leaves can be harvested in as little as three months but may not reach full maturity until 4 months of solid growth.

If you plan to use the roots in medicinal recipes, most commercial productions wait until the third year of growth to harvest the entire root ball for use. This allows the roots to develop to absolute maturity. Although, the rest of the plant can be selectively harvested until this point.

Harvesting Seed

Save some of your strongest echinacea plants to use as seed stock in the first year. These will provide the best prospects for germinating from seed.

When the flowers have reached full maturity (around 3-4 months), the petals will begin to die off and turn brown. Once the seed heads begin to die and turn a dark brown color, your seeds are ready to harvest.

Snip the stems just below the seed heads and use a bucket or bowl to collect the seeds as you brush them out of the seed head with your fingers. Echinacea seeds are incredibly small, so be careful when removing them.

Make sure your seeds are completely dry by storing them in a cool, dry area for a couple of weeks before safely storing them for next growing season.

MUST HAVE BUT MAKE THE TUBE BIGGER OR CHARGE LESS!
Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Forget babies, at 30 years old I need a softening, nontoxic body lotion that rivaled Lush's sleepy lotion in affordability. THIS IS IT! Pros-Smells like heaven, has that subtle colloidal oatmeal-nutty scent with a light whiff of lavender or something subtle yet sweet. Great before bed time. Also, its an epic HAND CREAM, transformed my dry, over washed hands in three days of use. It's a light lotion, not greasy or runny. Pairs well under jojoba or shea nut oil for extra hydration. Cons- Came sealed, but quarter of the bottle wasn't full. Which leads to second issue WHY $11 FOR SUCH A SMALL BOTTLE??? And even worse I checked in the Babo site its original price is $14 so that's ridiculous. They must know grown women use this stuf,f not just babies. It's wasted on kids, their skin is flawless any way. It rubs in kind of odd, too much massaging it gets streaky, so rub it in a bit a let it soak in within 30 seconds. Last but not least MAKE THIS AN AFFORDABLE BODY WASH AND LOTION FOR WOMEN!

Love it
Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Eczema runs in my family and my poor little guy was starting to deal with dry itchy spots on his arms, legs and torso. Within a few days of use I could see the difference. His skin cleared up and we don’t deal with any dry spots anymore. His skin is super soft now. I spreads easily & his skin seems to soak it up nicely. The scent isn’t my favorite but it doesn’t smell bad. I think it’s a “hippy” scent but I definitely love the babo botanicals brand now. My brother deals with dry hands so I gave him a bottle of the lotion and his hands have cleared up significantly.

Awesome
This works well on the baby with no reactions. I smear it on after bathtime fairly thick. It absorbs in later. I also use it on my arms and shoulders in winter when we have dry air, very soothing after a shower. It has no strong odors. I am very sensitive to perfumes and odors in lotions. This one is super mild and causes no respiratory reaction.

Loved the smell - new packaging doesn’t smell the same :(
Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I love this lotion. It is all I will use on my babies when they are little. It is rich and I love the unique fragrance. It might not be for everyone but I think it is absolutely wonderful and high quality. Update: The most recent bottle I bought is no longer in a pump and now I’m a tube. I imagine they did this because so many people complained of the pumps breaking. I don’t know if they changed the formula or what, but the scent is not as pleasant as I remember the older bottles to be. It is not as strong as it was and a little less earthy and a little more chemically. It still moisturizes VERY well and is all natural, but I’m dropping to 4 stars because it doesn’t smell as good.
