Chlorogalum pomeridianum, commonly known as soap plant or soaproot, is a perennial, bulbous herb native to California, typically growing 1 to 2 feet tall when in flower. It emerges in late spring to early summer from a subterranean bulb and produces long, narrow, grass-like leaves that grow in a basal rosette, often reaching 1 to 2 feet in length. From late spring through summer, it sends up slender flowering stalks that bear clusters of small, star-shaped white flowers that open in the afternoon and close by evening, giving rise to its common name “pomeridianum” (afternoon-blooming). After flowering, the plant produces small, greenish capsules containing seeds. The bulb contains saponins and was historically used by Native Americans for soap and medicinal purposes. Chlorogalum pomeridianum thrives in full sun, well-drained soils, and dry, rocky slopes, demonstrating excellent drought tolerance and making it well suited for native plant gardens, naturalized landscapes, and habitat restoration projects. Zones 6-10

Germination

Chlorogalum pomeridianum, commonly known as soap plant or soap lily, can be germinated successfully with careful attention to its specific requirements. To enhance germination, scarify the seeds by gently rubbing them with sandpaper or nicking the seed coat with a knife. After scarification, soak the seeds in room temperature water for 24 hours to soften the seed coat and stimulate germination. Prepare a well-draining seed starting mix and sow the seeds at a depth of about 1/4 inch in individual containers or seed trays. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, as excessive moisture can lead to rot. Place the containers in a warm location with temperatures around 70-80°F (21-27°C) to encourage germination, which typically occurs within 2-8 weeks. Once the seedlings emerge, provide them with bright, indirect light and gradually acclimate them to outdoor conditions before transplanting them into their permanent location. With proper care and adherence to these guidelines, successful germination and healthy growth of Chlorogalum pomeridianum seeds can be achieved.

Cheap but good for what we do!
Color: Dark Blue
I wouldn't play tennis with them -- not that quality. However, we use a chuck-it thrower for our pooch and it's the perfect ball. When she's rips them open it's no big loss. Chinese.

Good Quality but Lose Bounce Over Time
Color: Yellow
Solid tennis balls overall, but after a couple of weeks of daily use they start losing pressure. Still a great deal for casual games or practice.

My dogs are obsessed with these
Color: Multicolour, Color: Multicolour
Red, Molly, and Karma are absolutely obsessed with these tennis balls. They’re bright and easy to spot outside in the grass, hold up surprisingly well during rough play, and don’t immediately shred apart like a lot of dog toys do. Great for fetch and everyday play time — definitely a favorite in our house.

Not Tough Enough
Color: Multicolour
Not as tough as Wilson’s. Easy to be chewed and busted by pet.
