Stop Crabgrass Before It Starts.

If you’ve ever battled crabgrass, goosegrass, poa annua, or other invasive weeds, you already know — once you see them, it’s too late.

Safeguard 0-0-7 with .37% Prodiamine creates a powerful barrier in the soil that prevents weed seeds from germinating in the first place. The result is a cleaner, thicker, weed-free lawn without constant spraying or hand-pulling.

This is the same professional-grade active ingredient trusted by lawn care operators, now available for your home lawn.

What Safeguard Prevents

  • Crabgrass
  • Goosegrass
  • Poa annua (annual bluegrass)
  • Spurge
  • Chickweed
  • Oxalis
  • Dozens of other annual grassy and broadleaf weeds

Apply before soil temperatures reach 55°F in spring, or in early fall to prevent winter weeds. Timing is everything with pre-emergent control.

Why Choose 0-0-7 Instead of a Fertilizer Blend?

Safeguard contains 7% potassium (potash) and no nitrogen.

  • No unwanted early spring growth surge
  • Safe for dormant Bermuda, Zoysia, and St. Augustine lawns
  • Helps strengthen roots and improve stress tolerance
  • Ideal when you want weed prevention without pushing top growth

If you prefer nitrogen with your pre-emergent, consider Guardian 13-0-10 Pre-emergent Lawn Fertilizer instead.

Professional-Strength Formula

  • .37% Prodiamine for long-lasting residual control
  • Granular, easy-to-spread formulation
  • Professional-grade concentration
  • Excellent coverage per bag

Application Rate: Apply at 4–5 lbs per 1,000 square feet using a broadcast spreader.

Watering: Water in with ½ inch of irrigation or rainfall within 7 days to activate the barrier.

Ideal For

  • Bermuda grass
  • Zoysia grass
  • St. Augustine
  • Centipede
  • Cool-season lawns (when not seeding)
  • Landscape beds

Important: Do not apply if you plan to seed. Prodiamine prevents all seeds from germinating, including grass seed.

When to Apply

Spring Application: Apply before soil temperatures reach 55°F for 3–5 consecutive days.

Fall Application (Warm-Season Lawns): Apply in early fall to prevent poa annua and winter weeds.

For season-long protection, apply twice per year.

The Bottom Line

If you want a clean lawn without fighting crabgrass all summer, Safeguard 0-0-7 is the first step.

Apply it on time. Water it in. Enjoy a weed-free season.

Excellent 11 hole jig
Size: 11 Holes
This jig worked excellently. It doesn't have any instructions, so I watched the video of it. I set it up the way the video showed, and I got decent results. Deducted a star since no instructions.

Good jig
Size: 11 Holes
The jig itself is great. The markings make it easy to be consistent; the design is well thought-out; and the build quality is good. I would recommend replacing the drill bit, though. A nice brad point will serve you better.

In the trash after a single use
Size: 11 Holes
For context, I’m a seasoned woodworker and always evaluate tools with the price in mind. This seemed like a good deal and in fact when it arrived, it looked and felt like reasonable quality for the price. Unhappily, the first bookshelf I drilled was off from side to side by almost 3 mm which would make a really wobbly shelf situation. It took a while to figure out what was happening, but I finally realized the metal bushings that guide the drill bit are so soft that they cored out from contact with the bit even though I was cautious to not put the bit in under power but to get it in the bushing and aligned before drilling. Still, the bushings started angling immediately. So when you then use those angled bushings to set the pin for the next series, it’s off by a little bit. Then the next is off by a little more…. By the time I drilled holes up and down a 6’ high shelf, the bushings were out of square, the holes were 3 mm out of alignment, and the shelf sides were firewood. Back to the drawing board and this goes in the trash, I’m afraid.
