Plant Species: Philodendron camposportoanum

Plant Genus: Philodendron

Plant Family: Araceae

Native Habitat: It thrives in the humid biome of South America, specifically in Bolivia, the Northwestern Central-West of Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Peru, and Suriname.

Soil Drainage: Moist and well-draining soil is recommended, using a substrate mix composed of coconut coir, perlite, vermiculite, sphagnum moss, and pumice.

Soil pH: Acidic

Fertilizers: Philodendron camposportoanum is a plant with modest fertilization needs. However, for its optimal growth, we recommend using a bio-type fertilizer (we use the BioBizz brand for the plants we cultivate) from the beginning of March to the end of November.

Air Humidity: As an epiphytic species that grows vertically, it thrives in environments with very high humidity. Therefore, it will develop consistently only at a humidity level of at least 55%. Otherwise, its aerial roots and base leaves may dry out, resulting in a somewhat bald and unpleasant appearance.

Temperature: 18-29 degrees Celsius

Light: Bright indirect light

Potted Plant Height:

  • Size L: 30-35cm

Potted Diameter:

  • Size L: 9X9cm

Philodendron camposportoanum has two main distinctive features:

  • It is a small-sized species compared to other species in the genus, usually not exceeding one meter in height at maturity. Simultaneously, it exhibits rapid growth, achieving maturity in ideal conditions within a single season.
  • This characteristic makes it beloved among growers and enthusiasts worldwide: the leaves transform in appearance as the plant grows. Juvenile leaves are oval-shaped, dark green, and have a velvety texture. As the plant matures, the leaves become glossy and heart-shaped with long lobes, in a deep green, almost black color. Many leaves will develop a third lobe, giving them a hammer-like appearance.

Due to its natural habitat's relatively high humidity levels in both air and soil, ideal growing conditions require an air humidity of 55-70%. We recommend placing it in a kitchen or a bathroom with a window. Like all Philodendron species, Philodendron camposportoanum thrives in bright indirect light (east-facing windows are the best) and should be watered when the top two centimeters of the substrate have dried out.

Attention! To assess the substrate's moisture level, inserting a finger into the pot to a depth of 2 cm is the best way to measure soil moisture. So, if the substrate feels wet, keep the spray bottle away for a day or two, and if it feels dry, water it.

Attention 2! When discussing watering, consider the size of the pot, the amount of substrate, and its degree of aeration. In other words, don't pour a liter of water into a pot with a diameter and height of 12 cm, as this could drown the plant's roots. It's best to pour off excess water from the collector tray half an hour after watering.

The plant should be mounted on a support pole wrapped in coconut fiber or moss, in which case the aerial roots will attach to this support, resulting in a more vigorous stem and progressively larger leaves.

Lemon: Very weak, almost undetectable
Scent: Lemon
I’m not impressed. I ordered the “Lemon” and it’s nothing like the “Aloe & Green” Tea we had at work. Unfortunately Amazon mixes the reviews together, so you can’t tell which scent actually got the good reviews. I can barely smell the lemon and I have to try really hard. And I’m someone who prefers soft scents that are not overpowering, because I have a sensitive nose. I can’t deal with strong perfumey stuff. But I would like to at least smell something. I remember the Aloe & Green Tea has a nice soft scent, that I could actually smell. So I’m not sure what’s going on with the lemon, unless I got a dud. I’m having a hard time believing this is how it normally is. I’m going to get some opinions from my guests and see if they can smell it.

Great for sensitive skin, cleans well.
Scent: Unscented, Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 2)
Only soap I can use at the moment. I have extremely sensitive skin: I cannot do really any coconut derivatives or even palm oils but this soap does not bother me at all. I feel clean with no heavy scents afterwards (I use the unscented version) which is a win in my book. I don’t use it on my face or hair just as a body soap and it doesn’t make my skin feel prickly or give me any unexpected rashes/reactions. It is a little drying for eczema prone skin so I just use more lotion when necessary. You get two very large bars that last well for the price it seems reasonable, but honestly I’d pay anything to not itch at this point.
