A tea made fom Self-Heal serves as an anti-virtal excellent to treat herpes, to soothe open oral sores and gargle for sore throats. Medicinally, it can also be used as a poultice to treat burns and expel splinters. Antiseptic, antibacterial, remedy for food poisoning. Used by the Quinault and the Quileute Native American Tribes of western Washington on boils. Entire plant is medicinal but flowers are the most active. Bitter salad green. Also known as All-Heal.
