Petunia 'Discoball Black'

Petunia ‘Discoball Black’ brings bold drama to any planting with its deep, velvety blooms splashed in bright white speckles. Each flower looks like it’s been flicked with paint, creating a high-contrast, eye-catching display that instantly stands out in baskets, beds, or mixed containers.

Part of the well-behaved Discoball series, this variety forms a tidy, manageable plant that’s just as stunning on its own as it is paired with complementary colors. Expect steady blooms and serious personality all season long.

Petunia Care Tips

  • Light: Petunias thrive in full sun — at least 6 hours of direct sun daily. More sun means more blooms. Plants in shade tend to get leggy and produce fewer flowers.
  • Water: Water thoroughly and regularly, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Avoid overhead watering when possible — wet foliage can invite disease. Container petunias dry out fast and may need daily watering in peak summer heat.
  • Soil: Prefers rich, loose, well-draining soil. Amend beds with compost at planting and use a quality potting mix for containers.
  • Fertilizer: Heavy feeders — feed every 1–2 weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer or a bloom-boosting formula. Consistent feeding is the single biggest factor in keeping petunias blooming strong all season.
  • Deadheading: Remove spent blooms regularly to encourage continuous flowering. Wave and spreading varieties are largely self-cleaning, but most other types benefit from regular deadheading.
  • Pinching: If plants get leggy mid-season, cut them back by one-third to reinvigorate growth and trigger a fresh flush of blooms within a few weeks.
  • Pests: Watch for aphids, slugs, and budworm. Budworm in particular can devastate blooms — look for chewed or missing flower buds as an early sign.
  • Hardiness: Grown as an annual in most climates; perennial in zones 10–11. Plant outdoors after all danger of frost has passed.

Order & Shipping Info:
-Plants ship in a grower's pot, fully rooted.
-We ship every Monday and Tuesday (excluding holidays) to avoid weekend delays.
-Our photos show what you can expect, but each plant is unique and may look slightly different upon arrival.
-Minor damage during shipping is entirely normal and should be expected, especially in extreme summer or winter temperatures. Don’t worry—damaged foliage can be trimmed away and will not affect the plant's root system or overall health.
-Hold off on watering if the soil is still moist, and wait 2-4 weeks before repotting or fertilizing. This patience will help your plant adjust smoothly without going into shock.

Important:

  • Report any order issues the day they arrive by messaging us on Etsy or emailing [email protected] with a photo. After 24 hours, no refunds, returns, or exchanges—no exceptions.
  • We guarantee plants arrive alive but can’t promise long-term success due to plant nature.
  • Refunds are case-by-case. Many plants recover with proper care, so refunds may not be needed.

Great manners book for first grade.
Format: Board book
A fun book to read and teach proper manners for first grade students. It leaves open ended questions for the students to answer and learn.

Great Lesson for Age 2 and Up
This was our day care's Book of the Month, for children age 2-4 years old. They are all learning to use manners with their peers, at the table and when addressing adults. The lesson took a few readings for the children to understand the point, but once they understood what the various characters WEREN'T doing, therefore getting a negative response from Mr Panda, and what they SHOULD be doing to receive a positive response, the lesson stuck with them. If a child forgets his manners, a hint ("How would you ask Mr Panda?") has good results. This book, while a good story to read aloud, may need some additional explanation by the adult reader at first. Mr Panda offers his friends a treat, and who doesn't like donuts?! When each animal's response is rude or selfish, Mr Panda abruptly withdraws his offer and moves on to someone else. When the final offer is made to a friend who uses his manners, he gets ALL the donuts, because as Mr Panda remarks at the end, he doesn't like donuts anyway. I don't know if this sets up unrealistic expectations, but it's a good lesson presented in an entertaining way.

Loved by all
Format: Board book
Both of my daughters have loved this book. I bought it initially for my 12 year old (as a toddler) and she adored the different animals voices I would do. Bought it again for my 18 month old and she just giggles and giggles.
