Helleborus niger, commonly known as Christmas Rose or Black Hellebore, is a charming perennial plant native to Europe. This elegant species typically grows to a height of 8 to 12 inches. It features dark green, leathery leaves that serve as a backdrop for its solitary, bowl-shaped flowers. The blossoms, which are white or pale pink, often emerge during the winter months, adding a touch of delicate beauty to the cold season. Despite its name, the plant is not a true rose and belongs to the buttercup family. Helleborus niger thrives in well-draining soil and prefers partial to full shade conditions. Its ability to bloom in cooler weather makes it a favored choice for adding interest to winter gardens and shaded areas. This hellebore's graceful appearance and early flowering time contribute to its popularity among gardeners looking to brighten up the winter landscape.  Zones 5-9

Germination

To germinate Helleborus niger seeds, start by cleaning the seeds to remove any debris or pulp. Because hellebore seeds have a natural germination inhibitor, it's recommended to perform a process called "double dormancy breaking." First, place the cleaned seeds in a plastic bag with a moist substrate and refrigerate them for about 8-10 weeks at temperatures between 32-41°F (0-5°C). After this cold stratification period, sow the seeds on a well-draining seed-starting mix and cover them with a thin layer of soil. Maintain a cool environment with temperatures around 50-60°F (10-15°C) for germination. Keep the soil consistently moist. Germination can be slow and variable, often taking several weeks to a few months. Once the seedlings have developed a few sets of leaves and are sturdy enough, they can be transplanted into individual pots or outdoor locations. Helleborus niger prefers well-draining soil and partial to full shade. The specialized germination process will reward you with the delicate and beautiful presence of Christmas Rose in your garden, especially during the colder months.

Great conditioner in a cute and eco-friendly package
I absolutely LOVE their sun lotions, and then tried their shampoos, and just fall in love with those too! Now I am on their conditioner. I have to admit it is way lighter texture than I expected, but I guess it was designed for that given the instructions being shake it before usage. For a thin hair like me, I only use conditioner twice per week, so it works great for me. Easy to wash off, and it does not have the wax-ish feeling that some other conditioners do. It made on my 2024 list so far. Just love it

Great for thin loose curls
Ive used this in my 4 year old daughters loose curls for a couple years now and its a good less toxic, less ingredient option. Smells nice and works pretty well. I don’t care for the containers it comes in because if they stay very wet in the shower they start to get moldy and if you aren’t careful you can pour way to much out but I still keep re-purchasing.

Smells bad
This product smells like acetone, which makes me believe that the ingredients might have gone bad. The matching shampoo smells good and no issue there but this conditioner is questionable.

Love it!
I've always been a fan of Babo's amazing sunscreens, so when I heard they were diving into hair care, I was intrigued. And let me tell you, their natural conditioner doesn't disappoint! It works like a charm, leaving my hair silky smooth. Plus, knowing Babo's dedication to eco-friendly sun protection, I'm all in for this refreshing addition (and packaging) to their lineup. It's a win-win for my hair and the planet!

Very liquidy
Spilled from the spout because it was too liquidy for a conditioner- more of a body wash consistency.
