The white areas of the leaves are like so because they lack chlorophyll. The glossy white and green leaves are strictly ornamental and will stay attached to the woody vines all year long even during winter.

It is a vigorously growing evergreen perennial that will spread to the area it is planted in as a ground cover. The Variegated English Ivy grows best where it can attach itself to something to grow along such as a wall, fence, trellis, or other structure. Variegated Ivy will grow slower than its solid green cousin and requires less fertilization to keep it thriving. Only fertilize this easy-going plant once a year to provide it all the nutrients it needs. You can prune the ivy at any time to maintain the desired size and shape.
