A perennial flower for zones 3-8 Jacob's Ladder prefers full sun but will tolerate some shade.  

If starting in pots cold treat seeds prior to sowing.  Place your packet of seeds into a mix of two teaspoons of sand and 1 teaspoon of water. You want your mix moist but not soggy. Place the mix in a sealed baggie, inside a sealed container, inside your refrigerator (not your freezer) for 30 days.  After the cold treatment sow the mix on the surface of your potting mix and expose to light.

If sowing in the garden direct sow in late fall and lightly dust with screened peat.  You can also direct sow in early spring after the cold treatment described above.
