Origin: India

100-120 days from transplant. Also known as Ghost Pepper, Naga Morich. Legendary variety, one of the world’s hottest peppers, with readings in excess of 1,000,000 Scoville units! Bhut Jolokia starts out slow but eventually makes tall plants, exceeding 4 feet in favored locations. The thin-walled, wrinkled, pointed fruit reaches 2-3 inches in length, ripening mostly to red.

With a venomous bite even more intense than its cousin the ghost pepper, the Naga Morich (also known as the serpent chili and the Dorset Naga*) sits in rarefied air on the pepper scale. Calling it “fiery” would simply be an understatement as only a handful of chilies surpass it. Like with other super-hot peppers, don’t handle these chilies raw without taking safety precautions, and if you dare to eat it, be ready for the pain!

How hot is the Naga Morich?
Hailing from the same region of the world, the Naga Morich. But the Naga Morich beats it out is hotter than the ghost pepper. With a range from 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 Scoville heat units, only the hottest ghost peppers can compare to the mildest Naga Morich. Really the Naga Morich is more in line with the heat of the Infinity pepper (1,067,286 to 1,250,000 SHU) and the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion (1,200,000 to 2,000,000 SHU).

Have fun and be safe and PEPPER ON MY FRIENDS!

Traditionally the Bangladeshi people will impart the heat of the serpent chili into their culinary dishes by cutting open one of the immature, green chilies and rubbing it on to the foods they are preparing.

The thin walled wrinkled pods have a high degree of variability in shape although they are generally wedge shaped with three locules and average about 2 inches long by 1 inch wide. They ripen from a rich green through to yellow/orange and finally to a bright red approximately 120 days after transplanting. Plants are large and bushy.

It is used sparingly in Bengali cookery and is thought to originate from Northern Bangladesh.

Ignore the bad reviews, read mine!
Pictures don’t make you think much, but in-person these are beautiful and well made. I’ve been trying to replace everything with cleaner safer alternatives. Honestly I love everything this brand offers and stands for! Some things to think about when you see other peoples negative reviews. Since these cutting boards are all around safe and clean with no toxic coating’s that most have to make them last longer, they do require more maintenance, when people don’t follow that maintenance you get a warped or cracked board. Also they are not meant to last as long as your plastic one from Walmart, they should be replaced more often. Luckily for a pack of 3, and I’ll say again that are TRULY non toxic, they are super reasonably priced! For what they offer I would even pay more for these. They do also come with instructions on how to care for them! So if you are the type of person to leave things dirty, or wet in the sink, these are probably not for you. For anyone who doesn’t mind taking the extra minute these are a must (literally a quick wipe, rinse and hand dry, it’s nothing). Gives me a breathe of fresh air to know I’m using safe, and clean products.

Cutting boards will splinter
A lot of the reviews that are saying these wooden boards splinter are true. I was excited to find some nontoxic wooden cutting boards for such a great price. Upon arrival, they seemed pretty decent quality when I pulled them out of the package. I proceeded to use the large one so I gave it a quick rinse with warm water and was taken back by fumes coming off the cutting board and then wiped it down with a white paper towel and my paper towel was brown. I was a little discouraged, but decided to give it a better rinse with a soap, free brush. At that point once I dried it off whatever coding was on it came off and it was rough and splinters everywhere. Definitely a little upset that the splinters could’ve ended up in our food. These are not good quality non-toxic cutting boards I would rather spend a little extra money on a quality board that is not going to sprinter Wood shavings into my food.

Very good, just be sure not to leave in water
Overall, this is a very good product as my wife and I are moving towards non-toxic kitchen materials. My only advice is to make sure to not leave this submerged in water otherwise mold will easily form.

Truly non-toxic but a little rough and uneven
I’m very impressed with the packaging of this. When I first opened the box I was shocked that there was a plastic wrapping around the boards when they promised to be non toxic but then I saw the sticker that the wrapping was not plastic and I was very happy. The boards themselves are pretty nice and a good thickness but the only thing is I feel like the board is a little rough and parts of the board come up and are not smooth.

Not Durable…Splintered….
Had to chuck these. I loved them at first but they are not durable. Scratched themselves up right away and then the mid sized one started to splinter. I didn’t even have it for very long before I had to get rid of them. Long enough to not be able to return. I prefer the bamboo as far as wood goes, but switched to an antibacterial. It’s crazy because I had the same cutting boards for years and in the past month I’ve had to replace them 3 times now. I was so disappointed because there were such amazing reviews. Sadly that was not the case for me. I give it a 3 because they are absolutely beautiful…..you get points for being beautiful I suppose in this world. But not durable. At least not for me.
