We adore the pure class of the stunning Areca palm! You probably recognise this Dypsis palm even if you don’t know the name!  It’s well-loved, graceful and elegant - think 1920s hotel, mirrors and dinner jackets!  It will give your home that sophisticated feel, like walking into a movie set! Palm house plants are always popular, and the Areca Palm is no exception.

Dypsis is a genus of palm trees that includes many different species, each with its own unique characteristics. The most common species of Dypsis palm is Dypsis lutescens, also known as golden cane palm, areca palm, yellow palm, butterfly palm, or bamboo palm.

The Areca Palm is a popular ornamental plant that is native to Madagascar and naturalized in other tropical regions around the world. It has slender, bamboo-like stems that are topped with feathery fronds of pinnate leaves that can grow up to 8 feet long. The leaves are bright green in colour and have a delicate, airy appearance that gives the tree a graceful and elegant appearance.

The Areca Palm is a relatively fast-growing and low-maintenance plant that is well-suited to indoor or outdoor cultivation in warm, humid climates. It prefers bright, indirect sunlight and moist, well-drained soil.

As an indoor plant, the Areca Palm is valued for its ability to purify the air and add a touch of tropical beauty to any room. It is often used in office buildings, shopping centres, and other public spaces, as well as in homes. It is also commonly planted in gardens or used as a screening plant in tropical climates.

It’s also suitable for cats and dogs as it’s non-toxic, which is unusual in a houseplant.

Attractive, plentiful fronds sprout from bamboo stems to make the Areca palm a wonderful centrepiece for a room, to give it that high society feels.

Areca palm hails from tropical and subtropical regions but can also be found as close to home as the South of France!

We absolutely love the pure showbiz look of this palm; it brings immediate impact to a room and gives it that glitz and glamour - the perfect accessory to your home!

Where should I put this plant?

Areca palm likes lots of light but not direct sun; it loves humidity, although it will tolerate cooler temperatures than some houseplants.

How much water does it need?

This plant should be kept a little moist; water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry, less in winter.

Is this plant suitable if I have pets?

Areca palm is usually suitable if you have pets, but we can’t guarantee that it will be fine for every pet.

Good Start for X-men from the Ashes
Format: Kindle
The art is different than previous issues and takes a little getting used to, but overall above par. With comics, it’s always about the art first, the writing second. The dialogue pops for the most part. And the characters make sense. I rather like the scenes between Cyke and Logan, Hank and Cyke, and Magneto. Also it makes sense that after being tortured and put through hell - Cyclops would retreat to his birthplace, Alaska, and take the mutants who can’t blend in with humans, or are ostracized with him. The team up works for me - we have people who are deadly, former assassins and villains, which again works well with Cyclops, a character who believes in second chances. Only quibble - is the villains feel kind of stale? I was never a fan of the U-Men. But I’ll give it a chance, the rest is working for me so far.

Fun new start
Format: Kindle
I really enjoyed this first issue. The team's dynamics seem to be getting a lot of focus which I like. And the action jumps out of the page. The character designs will take some getting used to but the art is honestly fantastic. Most enjoyable part to me was the team actually feeling like a team, with lots of small interplays and Cyclops really feeling like the leader he should be. I'm not sure I like Orchis as the villains again but we'll see how it goes.

Great new beginning
Format: Kindle
I didn't really care for the Krakoan era as a whole, and knowing how comics, especially the X-Men, go through cycles every few years, knew it wouldn't last. I'm especially glad to see the somewhat bland logos go and the classic ones return. I like this line up so far, especially the inclusion of the Juggernaut. I remember reading the comics years ago when he first switched sides, and was.disappointed when he went back to being bad. I haven't read the concluding chapters of the Krakoan era yet, so seeing a "classic" version of the Beast is a little surprising since the last time I saw him he had turned into an evil piece of %#@+. The story by Jed MacKay was interesting and entertaining, as I knew it would be. I've always enjoyed Ryan Stegman's art. Looking forward to more of this series and the other X-Men books, especially Uncanny X-Men.

More of the same
Format: Kindle
I haven’t read X-Men comics in years, but decided to dive back in as a supplement to all the Marvel Cinematic buzz. The plot seems like standard X-Men fare. The weakness of the comic medium, particularly for characters like the X-Men, is the holding pattern of the status quo that the characters are constantly suck in. I’m not sure if this series will deliver a clever twist on it yet. The dynamic they are setting up with the downtrodden Sentinel manufacturing town is interesting, as is the implicit aspiration of the X-Men to replenish the land itself. I am enjoying the team composition and the gorgeous art. They decided to crucify Wolverine again and it looked cool as ever. Juggernaut’s costume, too, is incredibly drawn.

This story hits all the right notes for a 1st issue, with new mysteries and new characters. Love the team, with stalwarts like Beast, Wolverine, and Cyclops. Looking forward to more!
