The Sweetgum Tree is an important timber tree. One of the most common hardwoods used to make veneer, plywood, cabinets, furniture and more (second in production oak). The gum from these trees has been used as chewing gum and serves as an important ingredient in adhesives. 

The Sweetgum Seed Pods are spiky balls that typically produce ~30-50 seeds from mature trees. Once the seed pods (which are considered fruit) dry, they turn brown and holes start to appear. In the wild, these seed pods contribute food to much of the wild life, but in our world they become playgrounds for some of our smaller isopods.

These are a great addition to your isopod enclosure. If you are lucky enough to find this outdoors, please ensure they are pesticide free before adding to your enclosure.
