  • South Luangwa Crocodiles

Posted on September 8, 2015 4:24 am by Kerri Comment

There were lots and lots of crocodiles in the river.

    image

    Some of them were swimming.

    image

This one had a weird hunchback.

    image

This one has its mouth wide open which looks scary.

    image

But he’s actually just panting to cool off.

  • South Luangwa Waterbuck

Posted on September 8, 2015 4:24 am by Kerri Comment

We got a few good pictures of waterbuck that weren’t way off in the distance.

    image

    Even a female.

  • South Luangwa Fish Eagles

Posted on September 8, 2015 4:21 am by Kerri Comment

This fish eagle was sitting by the river resting.

    image

    When suddenly he sensed something.

    image

    Another eagle!

    image

    Swooping in for the kill!

    image

    Or not.

    image

    Turns out they are friends.

    image

    Very close friends.

    image

The newcomer had a look at himself in the mirror.

    image

    A very close look.

    image

Then they gazed into each other’s eyes romantically.

    image

    And had a drink together.

  • South Luangwa Birds

Posted on September 8, 2015 3:40 am by Kerri Comment

There were a lot of birds in South Luangwa Park.

    image

Some were pretty and some were boring.

    image

    And some were downright ugly.

    image

    And a bit evil looking.

    image

    Others just looked bizarre.

    image

Some had iridescent green on their wings and were somehow still ugly.

    image

Some build giant nests even though they are tiny birds. Look at the little hole!

    image

This one was pretending to be pretty but is really just brown white and black and boring.

    image

This one is bright and colourful and really pretty.

    image

There were also flocks of cranes which look really funny when they fly.

  • South Luangwa Sunset (with Hippos)

Posted on September 7, 2015 11:45 am by Kerri Comment

The sun in Africa never seems to set properly, it just disappears into the haze.

    image

It does turn a really pretty red colour when it is still quite high though.

    image

The hippos get more active at sunset.

    image

    They yawn a lot.

    image

This group had very small teeth but very big tongues for some reason.

    image

The sun is still very pretty.
