Kerri has hated Ann of Green Gables since she was a kid. The character more than the book. Matt thought Kerri was exaggerating so Kerri downloaded the audiobook and made Matt listen in the car. We didn’t even make it to chapter 3. This is a more accurate re-enactment of what would happen if Matthew picked up the wrong kid at the train station, put her in a carriage and determined she NEVER SHUTS UP.
But her house is free for Canada 150, and we were in the area, so we decided to visit anyway. As we passed the lake of shining waters…
Kerri started to get into the spirit.
Then she got far too much into the spirit.
Soon she started using her imagination. She could see all of the horrible death and devastation that could have happened to Ann in these very locations.
If you don’t think Ann would be grinning as she died, you clearly never read the books.
The place was just falling apart.
The scenic views were of a golf course, and the chairs were too wet to sit in.
Evil chipmunks just jumped out of nowhere when Ann was trying to secure her braids with maple leaves.
Ann probably nearly drowned or at least got uncomfortably wet in this river at some point.
Her bed looks terribly uncomfortable and too short.
Kerri thinks she Ann broke her arm falling off that roof or something.
We aren’t sure, because we didn’t make it that far into the book. We did make it far enough to hear all about how she prefers her name spelt, however just because you prefer something doesn’t mean you get your way. Ann just wasn’t for us.
