Copan’s most famous temple is this staircase.

It’s covered to protect it from the elements

So it’s really hard to get a good picture

All of the stairs have writing on them

They had a lot of intricately carved monuments

Most of them have writing on them too.

The carved pieces are a separate layer on top of the brick and a lot of them have slid off.

But it still has a lot of writing

Unlike Kerri

She is out of writing

We took too many pictures

And her brain is out of things to say.

Copan has a ball court

It’s not a very big one.

They have parrot heads instead of rings

They look pretty good for things that were battered with a 10 pound rubber ball for centuries.

The ones with the open mouths aren’t in as good condition.

They also had a smaller ball court where Matt is practicing.

They had a big turtle sculpture.

And some other shell

This guy has weird teeth

I wonder what the hooks are for.

This is an ear pod tree. I always wondered where Apple gets them.

We did not want this ant to bite us

We also decided not to pet this caterpillar.

The scribes in Copan lived in these houses

They also had stone beds

Some of the beds took up the whole room

This one was L-shaped.

The walls used to have carvings, but a lot of them had fallen off

So there were a lot of headless warriors.
