  • Cinquera

The forests around Cinquera are where the guerrillas hid during the civil war.

    image

They are very proud of that.

    image

There are a lot of bomb bits around town.

    image

Some were used as church bells.

    image

These are the stoves where they cooked in the forest. The pipes take the smoke from the fire so it has time to cool before releasing it and doesn’t rise.

    image

    This is the operating table

    image

This is a plane they shot down

    image

These were used for making indigo before the war.

    image

    The forest is very pretty.

    image

    Woodpeckers always have good views.

    image

    This is a flower.

    image

    This is also a flower.

    image

Are you as good at recognizing flowers as Kerri?

    image

    These are flowers

    image

They have all the flowery bits

    image

This is not a flower because it only has spikeys.

    image

We have seen a lot of mountains that are supposed to look like women

    image

But this is the first that really looked like a woman to Kerri.

  • Suchitoto

    Suchitoto had squacking birds

    image

    And mountains and fields

    image

We went to a cigar making demonstration

    image

It did not make us want to smoke

    image

They have a lake that used to be pretty but is now so polluted that we couldn’t do anything on it.

    image

But from a distance it looked pretty

    image

Kerri went to a pupusa making class. Matt was sick so she had to cook for herself.

    image

Can you tell which one the chef made and which two Kerri made?

    image

We went to an indigo dyeing demonstration.

    image

It turns darker blue when exposed to the air

    image

    And then it is rinsed

    image

    And now it’s blue.
