This big steppy pyramid was built right in front of another pyramid
So the only way to see the other pyramid is to climb up and down its steep steps
The front of the other pyramid is very impressive
With lots of carvings
These ones are Kerri’s favouriite
Because they’re cute
The holes in the eyes probably once had glass in them to glint in the sun
The pyramid in front makes a good viewing platform.
Did the ancient people build that “floor” that Matt is standing on (above the snakes)? It seems quite thin and cantilevered pretty far out to be natural stone. On the other hand, if it’s modern reinforced concrete, why is it there?
They built new temples on top of old temples, so all of them are like Russian nesting dolls of temples inside temples. The archeologists excavated the bottom to see the older temple, but built the floor where the ground level was when the newer temple was built.
