Here’s the leftover animals that didn’t make it to other posts.
The gecko blended in pretty well with the tree.
Geckos are really cute.
Lizards are alright but don’t move in nearly as funny a way.
We actually found a couple snakes.
They were really good at hiding and didn’t come out into the open very often. No idea what kind this was, except for very long.
The flies were really big and would even hold still for pictures sometimes.
Here’s a shield bug hanging out on a leaf.
They look funny from the front.
on the underside of the leaves were these strange objects. They might be eggs.
Here’s a big beetle wandering around.
Here’s a dung beetle that was attracted to the light at the truck. There were so many and sadly there was no dung for them.
Many would fall over on their backs after flying to the truck and falling down.
We saw a few different wasps.
At night some cool dragonflies would come out to hunt the other insects attracted by the lights.
These look like bigger insects that are not friends with the ants that are all over them.
Even moths can look interesting sometimes.
This is a another neat looking bug walking through the grass.
The ants here have big jaws and themselves are quite large.
Some insects are easier to spot then others. Even trying to blend in the with soil humans are good at seeing movement.
Rarely butterflies would actually take a break with their wings open.
Most of the time they would hide their pretty wings. ![]()
Dragonfly wings are transparent so you always get to see the cool patterns and the body.
Getting an insect to face you is trickier and most don’t like the camera too much and fly away before we get close enough to get a good picture.
Sometimes they pose and you can get a view of them.
In the dark the weird looking insects come out. They are just tricky to find.
I’ve got no idea what this is. It looks like it is cleaning its antennae though.
Here it is again looking a lot cooler from the side.
And one last shot from the front.
